Love, with your eyes open.
Vessa is honest, outside perspective on your relationship — the kind you cannot get from inside it, or from anyone who loves you. It comes to understand your specific situation, and helps you see it clearly enough to know what to do next.
BeginThe part nobody helps with
Falling for someone is the easy part. What comes next — the not-knowing, the second-guessing, the quiet 11pm question of is this right? — you mostly face alone. The people closest to you are too invested to be honest. The internet does not know your story and starts from zero every time. And you cannot see your own relationship clearly from inside it.
So the highest-stakes decision of your life gets made on the worst information anyone ever works from. People stay too long, leave too early, or settle — and lose years either way. Both are failures of clarity, not failures of love.
What Vessa does
It starts with some quick questions about you and your relationship: about three minutes, mostly tapping. Everything after that is built from what you tell it there, and it keeps building as you go.
- Reflects you back. Everything you have said, gathered into one picture of who you are in a relationship — something to think against rather than a verdict. It changes as it understands more of you, and if it has the wrong idea, you say so and it changes.
- Keeps what you notice. Their coffee order, the friend they are worried about, the thing they keep mentioning. A record of noticing rather than a profile — private to you, always, and never read back to them.
- Moves first. Vessa does not sit and wait to be opened. A small thoughtful gesture mid-week, drawn from what you noticed. A run-up to the birthday or the day something of theirs gets decided, starting early enough to matter. A quiet check-in on a Sunday evening.
- Plans the time you keep meaning to make. Three plans land on a Sunday — one for each of you, one for both — built from what you have both said you love. Open one and it already has a shape: change what does not fit, settle on a time that suits you both, and add it to your calendar.
- Thinks with you, whenever. One tap from anywhere opens a conversation that already knows what you were looking at — and knows your history, so you are never explaining your relationship from the beginning again.
Two people, two private sides
Your partner has their own Vessa. Their side is private to them, yours stays private to you, and there is exactly one space you both see — the things you want to do together, and the plans that come out of them.
Something you have written privately can quietly inform what Vessa suggests to them, which is much of the value of the two of you being here. But it is transformed first, so it cannot be traced back. Vessa never quotes you to them, and never says what you said.
None of it waits on them, either. Vessa is built for you first and works fully on your own — the invite is there when you want it, including not today.
What stays yours
Vessa holds the most private things a person has, and that is a promise before it is a feature. What you write is private by default, encrypted at rest with a key of your own, and sharing is always something you did on purpose.
Nothing is sold. Nothing is advertised against. There is no data business here and no advertising business — no third-party analytics, no advertising trackers, no behavioural profile of you being assembled for someone else. And it is all reversible: take a copy of everything, or delete the lot outright, from Settings, with no email and no waiting.
The privacy page is the long version — including the parts that are hedged, because saying more than is true would be the easiest thing on this page to do.
What Vessa will not do
- Optimise for your attention. There are no streaks, no badges, nothing to keep up. Going quiet for a month costs you nothing. Clarity will never be traded for time in the app.
- Push you toward staying or leaving. Vessa has no stake in the outcome and will not tell you what to do. It helps you see clearly enough to know.
- Flatter you. It will gently disagree, and say the unwelcome thing when the unwelcome thing is true. Comfort that is not accurate is not worth much at 11pm.
- Become the person you talk to instead of people. There is no name to get attached to and no relationship on offer here. It points you back at the human it is about. Needing it less is a good outcome, not a lost one.
- Pretend the fairy tale. Some people are not right for each other, and Vessa will not try to salvage a bad fit. It also refuses the opposite story — that the fading of early magic is proof you chose wrong.
Who it is for
Anyone taking a relationship seriously enough to want to see it clearly — early and uncertain, or years in and worth tending. Vessa serves you as an individual, whatever your partner does, and it is built to speak equally to anyone.
It is not therapy, not medical advice, and not a crisis service — it says so itself if a conversation turns that way. It is for adults.
A great relationship is built
Because a great relationship isn’t something you luckily find. It’s something two people build, and you shouldn’t have to navigate the most important one of your life blind, or alone.
Vessa is available on iPhone and on the web. Questions before you start are welcome on the support page.
